Essential Job Duties:
The Undergraduate Teaching and Outreach (UTO) team works in service of the undergraduate community at North Carolina State University. The UTO team is dedicated to excellent teaching with the goal of developing critical, ethical and empathetic information users.
We are hiring an LIS graduate student in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina who is interested in building their in-person and online library instructional skills to join our instruction team for the upcoming academic year (August 2026 to May 2027). This position has the opportunity to be extended to the 2027/28 academic year, so LIS students entering their first year of library coursework will be prioritized. Experience with teaching or instruction is not required.
Responsibilities:
- Complete training and build experience with in-person library instruction topics
- Complete training and build experience with instructional technologies and a Learning Management System (LMS)
- Shadow, co-teach, and teach ~ 10 library instruction sessions per semester
- Collaborative work to create an online learning tutorial
- Participate in weekly team meetings
- Participate in outreach events organized by the University or by the Libraries to introduce current or prospective students to library resources
- Participate in research initiatives, defined by the graduate student and supervisor

- Work ScheduleThe student is expected to set and maintain a regular schedule between 7:30 am and 6:30 M-F.
