Field Experience Student Opportunity with NC LIVE
30th Anniversary Community History Project
NC LIVE welcomes a field experience student for the Fall 2026 semester to help promote and document the organization’s 30 year anniversary! This position will include gathering local history stories and creating an original, online exhibit that celebrates the role of NC LIVE in statewide e-resource access. The person in this role will gain experience with gathering oral histories, exhibit design and curation, creative storytelling and marketing, and using digital media tools. At the end of the experience, they will have a complete project to add to their portfolio of work and connections with library staff interviewees from across the state.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and conduct interviews with stakeholders from NC LIVE’s 30-year history
- Develop a narrative about NC LIVE’s statewide impact based on gathered interviews and testimonials
- Craft engaging and informative graphics and other media to communicate NC LIVE’s history and roles since its founding
- Create a digital exhibit that celebrates and promotes NC LIVE’s 30 year history

Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Masters degree in Library and/or Information Science
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Interest in e-resources, local history, and library marketing
Hours and location
This field experience offers flexible hours and the ability to work remotely. Some in-person days at the NC LIVE office in Raleigh (D.H. Hill Library on NC State University’s campus) are encouraged and will be determined by the student’s schedule.
