POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Librarian II in Youth Services, you will inspire a love of reading and learning by providing outstanding reference assistance, readers’ advisory services, and engaging programs for youth from birth through grade 12. CONDITIONS:
Driving is an essential function of this classification. Must have or obtain and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License within sixty (60) days of employment and maintain license with an acceptable driving record.
This position involves working with juveniles less than 18 years of age and may be required to undergo a fingerprint-based criminal history check conducted by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) in accordance with Session Law 2025-16.
Background check with local law enforcement agency required.
Each applicant who is tendered an offer for employment for any position with Cumberland County shall be tested for the use of drugs specified in the County policy. Refusal to submit to testing or a confirmed positive test shall be basis for withdrawal of the conditional employment offer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in Library Science and one (1) year of professional library experience, preferably including six months of supervisory experience.
Management preferences
Experience in providing services to youth. A demonstrated ability to manage a grant-related project with minimal supervision.
