POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Librarian I in Youth Services, you will connect children, teens, parents, and caregivers with engaging resources, personalized recommendations, and exceptional library services. CONDITIONS:
In accordance with Session Law 2025-16, candidates selected for positions involving work with children in any capacity will be required to undergo a fingerprint-based criminal history check conducted by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
Each applicant who is tendered an offer for employment for any position with Cumberland County shall be tested for the use of drugs specified in the County policy. Refusal to submit to testing or a confirmed positive test shall be basis for withdrawal of the conditional employment offer.
Driving is an essential function of this position. To be considered, you must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
A formal transcript will be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in library science is required. Trainee applicants must have completed at least 75% of required course work towards an MLS and submit a letter from the Dean of the Library School that states the number of credit hours already obtained and that the candidate can complete all master’s degree requirements within 12 months.
