Digital Facilitator: Multiple Positions Available
Libraries Strengthening Connections Project This is a temporary, time-limited position. The State Library of North Carolina is seeking a Digital Facilitator for temporary, time-limited full (40 hours) or part-time (20-29 hours) positions working in Alleghany, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin, NC counties as part of the Libraries Strengthening Connections (LSC) project. This role involves inperson travel and remote interactions to increase the capability and confidence of rural public library staff to meet the digital access, literacy, and skills needs of their local community members. The Digital Facilitator will work collaboratively with the LSC team to create tools, research new technology and applications, coach, support and model lifelong digital skill acquisition to project participants. As part of a team working with multiple libraries across the state, professionalism, respect, and the ability to build trust are essential. This project is federally funded through an award to the State Library of North Carolina by the NC Office of Digital Broadband and Digital Opportunity. Digital Facilitators will play a critical role in advancing state and local digital skill and literacy initiatives. This is an 11-month position from the start date. Key Responsibilities • Provide training, coaching, and support to library staff in-person and remotely using varied digital skills and learning curricula, including Northstar Online learning. • Research and share current digital literacy information and digital skills curricula with program participants. • Deliver Northstar technical assistance to public library staff, either remotely or in person. Use sound judgment, professional discretion, and maintain confidentiality. • Set-up, operate, and maintain testing and learning applications and training aids. • Actively listening and working to assist library organizations to achieve both their organizational goals and those of the LSC project. • Demonstrate strong dependability and time management skills. • Maintain participant and organizational confidentiality to foster positive relationships. Position Details • Schedule: Part-time or full-time, M-F, may include some weekends • End Date: 11-month position (11 months from start date) not to extend beyond June 30, 2026 • Hiring Range: $22–$28/hour, dependent on qualifications and experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1. Ability to develop, organize, and present information in a variety of formats and learning levels (in-person, online, synchronous, and asynchronous.) 2. Working knowledge of digital devices and online applications. 3. Ability to gather information in a timely manner related to digital skills and literacy questions or needs. 4. Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with audiences of varied levels of education, cognition, and experiences. 5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of the LSC project team and with library administration and staff. Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma. • Five years of experience in training, customer service, program planning, coaching, information research, or help desk support. Preferred Qualifications • Experience training and supporting adults in digital skills and knowledge acquisition. • Experience providing information outreach to underserved members of the public.
