Accessibility Field Experience Student Opportunity with NC LIVE
NC LIVE seeks a field experience student for Fall 2025 to play a key role in boosting accessibility across our statewide electronic resources and empowering our 210 member libraries to meet the updated ADA Title II standards. This experience will focus on enhancing the accessibility of the NC LIVE website, the NC LIVE Website Service, and our licensed e-resources. You'll gain hands-on experience with accessibility tools, vendor relationships, and engage with a diverse network of libraries across North Carolina. Collaborating closely with NC LIVE staff and advisory committees, you'll contribute to the development of accessibility support for our members. By the end of your field experience, you will have made a tangible impact, ensuring a more accessible online experience for library users throughout North Carolina.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct accessibility testing on NC LIVE’s website, Website Service and licensed e-resources.
- Document accessibility findings in reports that can be shared with NC LIVE’s e-resource providers and the Resource Advisory Committee
- Support communication with e-resource providers regarding accessibility standards and needs
- Assist NC LIVE staff in implementing accessibility improvements to NC LIVE Website and Website Service Template.
- Contribute to the creation of accessibility-related resources and guidance for NC LIVE member libraries.

Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Masters degree in Library and/or Information Science
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Interest in user experience, training, or accessibility
Hours and location
This field experience offers flexible hours and the ability to work remotely. Some in-person days at the NC LIVE office in Raleigh (D.H. Hill Library on NC State University’s campus) are encouraged, and will be determined by the student’s schedule.
