High Point University is currently seeking a full-time Librarian. The Librarian will provide research and instruction services to the Natural and Health Sciences programs at the University.
Education:
- MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited library school required.
- An undergraduate degree or strong interest in the natural sciences or healthcare is preferred.
Experience:
- Work in an academic library setting.
- Experience in a health or science field is a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated experience using information resources in the health sciences.
- Demonstrated experience in citation methods and knowledge of citation software tools.
- Working knowledge of library programs that support reference and instruction services
- Knowledge of evidence-based practice and research methodology used in the health sciences.
- Strong oral and written communications skills
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- In conjunction with Smith Library staff, manages the day-to-day operations of the Wanek Center Learning Commons.
- Acts as a liaison to the undergraduate and graduate natural and health sciences programs at High Point University.
- Provides support for the scholarly communications and research data management needs of the University community.
- Prepares and teaches in-person and online library research instruction in health, health care and other science areas.
- Evaluate potential acquisitions of health sciences library materials.
- Works with other members of the library services team to maintain the Learning Commons at the Wanek Center as a study and research space.
- Is a member of the library management team and serves on committees as they relate to the library, the University, and broader academic community.
- Maintains positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively.
- Other duties as assigned.
