POSITION TITLE: Adult Services Programmer
Position Salary: Starting annual salary $39,000.00, commensurate with experience

Position Summary: Braswell Memorial Public Library is seeking a creative, energetic, and service-oriented Adult Services Programmer to develop engaging programs and services for adults while providing information, technology, and customer service assistance to library patrons. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with the public, developing community partnerships, coordinating programs and events, and helping patrons connect with information, technology, library resources, and community services.
Position Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, implement, promote, and evaluate adult programs, workshops, special events, and community engagement activities.
- Manage program logistics, including scheduling, registration, presenters, room setup/takedown, supplies, staffing, and promotion.
- Develop partnerships with community organizations, agencies, businesses, presenters, and other community stakeholders.
- Represent the library at community events, outreach activities, meetings, and local gatherings and provide presentations about library programs and services.
- Assist management in the coordination of the library's volunteer program, including recruitment, orientation, training, coordination, and evaluation.
- Coordinate library displays and assist with special events and outreach activities.
- Provide information and basic reference assistance and help patrons locate books, electronic resources, databases, and other library materials.
- Assist patrons with computers, printing, scanning, copying, online resources, job searches, résumés, online applications, and other basic technology needs.
- Provide accurate information and explanations regarding library services, policies, procedures, and resources.
- Respond to patron requests, concerns, and complaints in a courteous, professional, and consistent manner.
- Collaborate with library staff on programs and outreach activities serving all ages while respecting assigned program responsibilities.
- Assist with surveys, focus groups, and other efforts to identify community interests and evaluate programs and services.
- Perform other related duties that support Adult Services and library operations.
Position Qualifications: Master’s degree in Library Science (MLIS/MLS) from an American Library Association accredited institution. Must be able to receive a North Carolina Public Librarian Certification, and experience working in a public library with two years preferably in Information/Reference Services.
Physical Demands: Work is typically performed while sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light objects, occasionally lifts heavy objects, and uses equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
Additional Requirements: Must have, or have the ability to obtain, a valid North Carolina driver’s license and successfully complete background screening.
