- Austin Peay State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor – Outreach and Engagement Librarian. This is a full-time, 12-month tenure-track faculty position reporting to the Director of Library Services. The successful candidate will develop, implement, and assess innovative outreach programs and services that promote library resources, services, and information literacy to the university community. This position is crucial in fostering partnerships across campus and beyond, enhancing the library’s visibility, and supporting the university’s teaching, learning, and research missions. The incumbent will also provide instruction, reference, and liaison services.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesSpearhead an innovative outreach strategy that aligns with the library’s and university’s vision, driving engagement and resource utilization.
- Orchestrate dynamic programs and events that showcase library services, captivating diverse campus audiences and fostering a culture of learning.
- Forge strategic partnerships with faculty, staff, and student organizations to integrate library resources into academic and campus life seamlessly.
- Develop marketing materials that can be shared across multiple channels, effectively communicating the library’s value.
- Implement data-driven assessment of outreach initiatives, continuously refining approaches to maximize impact and user satisfaction.
- Provide reference and research guidance.
- Teach library instruction sessions in assigned liaison areas.
- Participates in the development of collections in assigned liaison areas.
- Collaborate with student success units to create targeted outreach programs that enhance academic achievement and promote lifelong learning.
- Advance the library profession through scholarly activities and active participation in professional organizations.
- Perform other duties as required.

- Required Minimum QualificationsALA-accredited master’s degree (or international equivalent) in library or information science.
- Experience with the provision of research services and library instruction.
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in an academic library setting.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing outreach programs.
- Proficiency with social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with academic library operations and procedures.
- Experience with collection development in an academic library.
- Strong service commitment to working with students, faculty, staff, and other communities.
- Understanding of the scholarly information process, including the emerging areas and trends in scholarly communications, student success and engagement, and the functions of an institutional repository.
- Familiarity with intellectual property, copyright, and fair use; and commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive workplace with an ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
