Associate Director of Institutional Assessment
UNCW has updated its assessment model and is currently seeking three individuals to serve as Associate Directors of Institutional Assessment within the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to provide expertise and support for assessment and accreditation for one or more designated academic colleges. These positions report to the Director for Institutional Effectiveness and collaborate with administrators, faculty, and staff. The Office of Institutional Effectiveness resides within the Department of Institutional Research and Planning, under the leadership of the Associate Provost for Institutional Research and Planning. These positions will serve as contributing members on the University Assessment Council and college leadership teams.
The Associate Director for Institutional Assessment plans and leads implementation of assessment activities, trainings, conducts analyses, and reports findings to support the ongoing improvement of student learning, program effectiveness, and ensure accreditation compliance standards are met. The Associate Director partners with, collaborates, and supports the efforts of faculty, administrators, and staff to ensure high-quality assessment plans, reports, compliance evidence, and the effective use of assessment results that foster a culture of continuous quality improvement.
The Associate Director is responsible for supporting the University and College(s) mission in the following areas:
• Consultation and Professional Development:
• Collaborates with faculty, staff, and administrators to utilize assessment and evaluation activities to foster a climate of continuous improvement.
• Provides guidance, instruction, and professional development related to assessment and evaluation.
• Accreditation Compliance:
• Ensures assessment activities support accreditation standards.
• Aligns evidence with requirements set by accrediting bodies (such as SACSCOC) to monitor compliance.
• Data Collection and Reporting:
• Analyzes qualitative and quantitative data.
• Develops college and school-level assessment reports.
• Develops reports to support accreditation compliance.
• Reviews and gives feedback on program coordinator’s assessment reports.
• Shares and presents results on continuous improvement activities.
• Improvement Strategies:
• Supports faculty in developing and implementing strategies to enhance student learning and program effectiveness.
• Assisting faculty to evaluate the success of each improvement strategy.
Preference would be given to programmatic accreditation experience in education, business, health, science, and engineering.
