Job Description Summary
As a member of the Research, Instruction, and Outreach team the Outreach Coordinator plays a pivotal role in expanding the reach of our library's resources and services to various groups within the campus and local community. This position is responsible for coordinating outreach events, conducting presentations and information sessions, serving as a point of contact for external groups, assisting with publicity efforts, and supervising student assistants. Additionally, the Coordinator serves as the primary trainer and support for users of the Zotero citation management tool. This position is a critical member of our outreach team that works to make connections with groups across campus and within the larger Winston-Salem community and to educate our community about the resources and services ZSR offers.
This is a full-time, onsite position (37.5 hours per week) with the potential for occasional flexible work accommodations. In general, anticipated hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm but some evening and weekend hours will be part of this position as outreach events demand.

Essential Functions:
- Coordinate Outreach Events: Schedule outreach events, ensuring timely execution and coordination. Track attendee participation and engagement for assessment purposes. Arrange logistical aspects such as location and equipment requirements. Staff the events as needed.
- Conduct Presentations and Information Sessions: Deliver informative presentations to various groups regarding library resources and services. Tailor presentations to meet the specific needs and interests of different audiences including external groups and WFU classes.
- Purchase and Track Outreach Materials: Work with stakeholders to determine needed branded merchandise. Work with vendors to get items ordered, received and distributed.
- Serve as Point of Contact for External Groups: Serve as the primary liaison for external groups seeking library tours or instructional sessions. Coordinate tour schedules and instructional sessions to accommodate external requests effectively.
- Assist with Publicity: Collaborate with the library's communication team to promote outreach events through various channels. Assist in distributing publicity materials such as flyers, and social media content.
- Supervise Student Assistants: Provide supervision and guidance to up to two outreach student assistants. Delegate tasks, monitor performance, and provide feedback.
- Support Zotero Citation Management Tool: Serve as the primary trainer and support resource for students and faculty using the Zotero citation management tool. Offer training sessions, workshops, and one-on-one assistance to promote effective use of Zotero.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in an educational or similar setting.
- Proficiency with the Google suite of services.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

- Experience working in an academic library
- Previous experience in library or other outreach, event coordination, or related roles.
- Experience supervising or mentoring student assistants.
- Experience with creating PR/Marketing materials
- Knowledge of Zotero or other similar citation management software
Supervisory Responsibility:
Responsible for own work. Will hire, supervise, train, and provide work direction and problem-solving assistance for outreach student employees (~2/year).
Status: Exempt, full-time; salary $48,000/year
