SCUA Processing & Reference Archivist – SHRA Temp
The SCUA Processing and Reference Archivist will provide in-person and virtual reference service during four of the five days that SCUA is open to the public. In addition, they will be responsible for processing new acquisitions for the rare book collections, additions to current and new special collections, and other processing as needed. The person in this position will collaborate with full- time SCUA staff members to support the processing of donations and collections to ensure they are cataloged, processed, and accessible to researchers and to the public. This position will be instrumental in helping with the upcoming organization, boxing, and labeling of material that will eventually be moved offsite in preparation for the library renovation project. Preferred qualifications include: Master's degree in library and information studies, knowledge of archival descriptive standards, such as DACs, for processing archival materials, knowledge of the specialized descriptive standards used in rare book cataloging, experience working with the archival collections management system, ArchivesSpace, and best practices in physical handling of rare and fragile materials.
28 hours per week onsite, 11 months per year
