Examples of Duties
- Hires, supervises, trains, evaluates, and schedules branch staff to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and achievement of library goals
- Ensures the safety and security of staff and customers, and maintains the building and grounds in a clean, safe, and functional condition
- Collaborates with the Branch Team Lead to support staff development, performance, and overall branch operations
- Models and enforces exceptional customer service standards, ensuring responsive, respectful, and solution-oriented interactions across all service areas
- Addresses and resolves customer concerns professionally and in a timely manner, coaching staff through complex or sensitive situations
- Oversees all branch services, including Adult Services, Youth Services, and Circulation Services, to ensure efficient and effective operations
- Conducts regular staff meetings and promotes clear, consistent communication across departments and team members
- Provides advanced reference and readers’ advisory services to meet diverse customer needs
- Plans, implements, and evaluates branch programming, including budgeting and supply management, to align with system goals and community needs
- Monitors facility and technology issues, coordinating with county departments to ensure timely resolution and maintain customer-ready spaces and resources
CONDITIONS:
Driving is an essential function of this position. Candidate must have or obtain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License within sixty (60) days of employment and maintain the license with an acceptable driving record.
Background check with local law enforcement agency required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in library science and two (2) years of professional library experience to include one (1) year of supervisory experience in a library setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
