Library Night Supervisor, Part-Time
North Carolina Wesleyan University seeks a dependable, service-oriented individual to manage library circulation operations at night Sunday through Thursday. Assists the Circulation Supervisor in training and supervising part-time student workers. Works at the Circulation Desk assisting patrons with circulation, reference, and technology questions and develops good relationships with library users. In collaboration with Campus Security, helps maintain a safe, secure, and positive environment in the library. The Night Supervisor works up to 25 hours per week, Sunday through Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to midnight, August to April, when school is in session.
Candidates for this position should have at least an associate degree or the equivalent of two years of college; an undergraduate degree is preferred. Computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to troubleshoot computer and printer problems. Strong customer service orientation and people skills to build relationships and work effectively with college students, faculty, library student workers, and other staff. Ability to supervise others effectively. Good organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Effective oral and written communication skills. The ability to climb stairs and handle some light lifting. Library experience and familiarity with library circulation functions and electronic resources including online databases, and supervisory experience are desirable.
